Doctoral Promotion Session in Economics: Dr. Wendy Salim Saputra, S.E., M.Ak

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Trisakti University, held an Open Doctoral Promotion Session in Economics with a concentration in Accounting at Campus A, Hendriawan Sie Building (S), 8th Floor. During the event, Dr. Wendy Salim Saputra, S.E., M.Ak was officially declared graduated with distinction (“Very Satisfactory”), becoming the 186th graduate of the Doctoral Program in Accounting Concentration.

The dissertation, entitled “The Effect of Green Innovation, Green Intellectual Capital, Directors’ Characteristics, and Directors’ Skills on Corporate Sustainable Performance with Corporate Strategies as a Moderator and Its Impact on Firm Value”, examines the influence of green innovation, green intellectual capital, directors’ characteristics, and directors’ skills on corporate sustainable performance, moderated by corporate strategies, as well as their relationship with firm value. The study introduces a novel measurement of the directors’ skills variable by adding two new dimensions and five new indicators.

The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Yolanda Masnita Siagian, MM., CIRR., CMA, CPMA (Asia), accompanied by the Head of the Doctoral Program in Accounting Concentration who also served as Secretary, Prof. Dr. Etty Murwaningsari, Ak., MM., CA. The Promoter was Prof. Juniati Gunawan, M.Si., Ph.D., CRA., CGP., CA, and the Co-Promoter was Dr. Murtanto, Ak., M.Si., CA., CPIA., CCFA. The Examination Committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Khomsiyah, Ak., CA., FCMA., CGMA., CRIB, Dr. Susi Dwi Mulyani, Ak., M.M., CA, and External Examiner Prof. Dr. Amilin, S.E., S.H., M.Si., Ak., CA., QIA., BKP., CRMP.

The novelty of this research lies in the addition of the Agile and Human Resources Management dimensions to the directors’ skills variable, expanding upon the previous framework developed by Adams et al. (2018). The inclusion of these two dimensions aims to enrich the analysis of how leadership skills influence corporate policies and performance with a more comprehensive scope, providing a new perspective and enhancing relevance to current business dynamics.

The findings reveal that green innovation has no significant effect on corporate sustainable performance, while green intellectual capital and directors’ characteristics have a positive effect. Conversely, directors’ skills show no significant influence on sustainable corporate performance. Furthermore, corporate strategies act as a moderating variable with mixed results: they strengthen the influence of green innovation on corporate sustainable performance but weaken the effect of green intellectual capital. In addition, corporate strategies do not strengthen the influence of directors’ characteristics but do strengthen the effect of directors’ skills on corporate sustainable performance. On the other hand, corporate sustainable performance has a negative effect on firm value.

The sensitivity analysis indicates that when the directors’ skills variable is expanded to include agile and human resources management dimensions, the overall model becomes stronger than the previous one. The expansion test results also show that all dimensions of directors’ skills have a positive impact on corporate sustainable performance, indicating that adaptive and human resource–oriented leadership capabilities play a crucial role in enhancing corporate sustainability performance.

With this remarkable achievement, Dr. Wendy Salim Saputra is expected to contribute to encouraging companies to commit to corporate sustainable performance, develop innovative sustainable solutions, produce environmentally friendly products and services, and ultimately enhance competitiveness.
